Summer 2013 Student Projects
As part of their French language courses, students on the summer 2013 program will choose between participating in instructor-led class outings and taking advantage of the opportunity to pursue an instructor-supervised personal project. Both instructor-led outings and instructor-supervised personal projects are intended to put students into direct contact with French language and culture. Two hours per week will be devoted to these activities during weeks two through six of the program(for a total of ten hours outside the clasroom). The instructor-led outings will take place on Monday afternoons from 1-3 p.m. Students pursuing individual projects may do so at another time during the week as long as it does not interfere with their coursework and/or their required program excursions. At the end of the program, on the Monday afternoon of week 7, all students will meet individually with their instructors and submit a written report in French of their time spent on their outings/projects.
Students will be asked to commit to either the instructor-led outings or their specific instructor-supervised personal projects by day two of classes (Thursday, June 20th). Students may develop their own personal projects. These are subject to approval by their instructors. Therefore, students are encouraged to think about their interests and options in advance, so that we can get off to a productive summer.
A note on additional fees: the instructor-led outings will be organized around free activities in the city. Students who choose to pursue personal projects will be required to pay any fees associated with their projects.
If you are interested in this option, you might want to plan ahead and budget for anywhere from 35€ to 150€ (or more depending on the type of project you choose).

This State and privately-funded café promises to serve as a space where five media formats (internet, radio, television, press and cinema) from five continents will be accessible to media consumers. A series of debates, literary conferences, film projections and writing workshops (two per week) on topics affecting our world will be open to participation from media consumers.
Events are free, though you may be required to purchase a beverage. This is a great opportunity for French language immersion and to experience an exciting twenty-first century version of the French café.
